Dearest 5th Grade Parents,

This year each class at All Saints will be focusing on the 15 Discipline with Purpose Skills. The DWP skills are: Listening, Following Instructions, Asking Questions, Sharing, Social Skills, Cooperation, Reasons for Rules, Completing a Task, Leadership, Communication, Organization, Resolving Problems, Initiating Solutions, Facts Vs. Feeling, and Self Sacrifice and Service to Others.

We have already spent time on Listening and Following Instructions and the students have shared these new skills with their book buddies.

As a part of learning about Self Sacrifice and Service to Others we have decided to “adopt” Brian Buettner. Brian is a St. Marks parishioner who is currently attending seminary in Kansas. Brian’s vocational journey is an excellent, living example of self sacrifice and service to others and we would like to support him in his decision. Our support will include prayers, cards, letters, and financial support. We have decided that $5.00 per student/per month will be a fine show of encouragement and help to Brian. In the spirit of self sacrifice, it is important that your child “earn” this money to donate to Brian. Perhaps they can do extra chores at home. For example: clear the table, help with dishes, take out the trash, etc.

Please send cash or make a check payable to Brian Buettner and I will forward the money to him with our cards.
